Teva + Our Suppliers = A Greater Positive Impact

Teva has one of the largest pharmaceutical supply chains in the world. We work with more than 40,000 suppliers to develop, manufacture and deliver our medicines.

We often talk about environmental, social and governance (ESG) at Teva—all we do to make sure we’re acting responsibly and sustainably. But we can’t do it alone.

A lot goes into getting medicines to the people who need them, and there are many ways we can make an impact along the way. When it comes to the environment, we can reduce energy use during operations and transport or design packaging materials that lead to less waste. Because we partner with suppliers at every stage, it’s important that we work together to make these changes.

So we hosted a webinar to share more about this with our suppliers.

Teva’s ESG Capability Webinar covered what ESG is and why it’s important to our relationship with our suppliers. We talked about key ESG challenges for the pharmaceutical industry—such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy consumption, antimicrobial resistance and packaging materials—and our goals and actions to address them. And we reinforced our Supplier Code of Conduct, which serves as the foundation of our relationship. We also heard from EcoVadis, which assesses and monitors sustainability progress, and from Schneider Electric about its Energize program, a collaboration of pharmaceutical companies to increase renewable electricity in their supply chains—of which Teva is a sponsor. During the webinar, our suppliers learned how the program can help them reduce their own scope 2 GHG emissions—or Teva’s scope 3 GHG emissions—which we’ve committed to reduce by 25% by 2030.

Got it—sounds great. What’s next?

We’re proud that our Sustainable Procurement score is in the top 1% of pharmaceutical companies assessed through EcoVadis—a result of our efforts to advance ESG together. As we work to improve the lives of patients, we’ll continue to partner with our suppliers to act responsibly and sustainably.
